Wudang training in the United States: Tai Chi, Qigong, Xingyi and Bagua

Xuan Yun Zhou is a Wudang Daoist priest who trained on Wudang Mountain and has taught in the United States since 2009. This page gathers where he teaches, only as the two sister sites state it.

Teaching here since 2009

Both sites describe him as a Wudang Daoist priest. He trained on Wudang Mountain, and daoistgate.com says he began teaching in China in 1997 and has taught in the United States since 2009.

According to his biography on daoistgate.com, he took part in a 2013 donation of photographs, video and publications about Wudang Mountain to the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and has lectured at Brown University, Boston University, Boston College, Endicott College and at organizations such as Google. These statements appear on that page alone; we have not verified them independently.

Daoist Gate Center in Francestown, New Hampshire

Grey clapboard buildings and a barn on a green hill, a great tree, an overcast sky. This is the Daoist Gate Center, Xuan Ju, in Francestown, New Hampshire, at the foot of Crotched Mountain — founded in 2018 under his guidance, with room for twelve to stay and a hall for twenty to train. Humble, and made for quiet work.

The training hall at Daoist Gate Center

A training hall with a wooden ceiling and a bare black floor, waiting. The center’s hall holds twenty practitioners at a time, and each spring and autumn it fills with the slow footwork of teacher training. Today it is only space, and the sound of nothing.

The meditation room at Daoist Gate Center

A quiet room: wood floor, window light, no one in it. The center says its school is open to all, whatever their age, background, ethnicity or belief. Stillness asks for very little — a floor, a window, and time.
